Nothing Like the Present

'tis a sonnet from the innermost depths of my soul... from a time of despair and anguish - to finding strength in living once more...

End of Life in Death
July 29, 2004 – August 25, 2004

Life leads me to tears each passing moment
Without a path, it goes in a circle
All it offered me is pain and torment
My harsh fate, be a melting icicle

Slowly, my will is consumed by shadows
My spirit lays stiff in a pool of fire
Sense of hope died in my arid meadows
I can hardly wait to light my own pyre

Except, I won’t burn well made of nothing
I want to leave behind ashes and smoke
My name must resound in heads of living
And face as old as that of a great oak

Truly, it’s harder to live than to die
But dying cannot make me reach the sky
